Cone Beam Dental CT

City X-ray & Scan Clinic proudly announces installation of CONE BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (CBCT) providing important information to patients, dentists, maxillofacial surgeons and healthcare professionals.  This latest technology produces three dimensional (3-D) images of your teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. CBCT has in a few years changed the practice of dental and maxillofacial surgery the world over.

What is Cone Beam CT (CBCT) ?

Cone Beam technology uses a cone shaped X-Ray beam that projects onto an amorphous silicon flat panel detector. The CBCT scanner then rotates 360 degrees around a patient’s head within seconds with the patient in a comfortable sitting position. The single turn motion image capture used in Cone Beam CT is quicker, and can be accomplished at a lower radiation dose as a result of no overlap of slices. Cone beam CT provides views that can be presented as 3D volumes or 2D images for diagnosis and advanced planning.

Uses of CBCT

  • Orthodontics - Impaction/ Localization of teeth or Foreign body

  • Oral surgery/ Third Molar nerve relations

  • Pre-Implant imaging/Placement/Planning
