Hematology & Clinical Pathology

Services / Pathology / Hematology & Clinical Pathology

In view of meeting its aim of providing accurate, reliable and quick services to its valued customers, specially developed computer software is installed in the laboratory thus providing accuracy in data transfer, control , retrieval and monitoring, thereby preventing manual errors.

City x ray labs have found way to integrate bar coding system which is a method of automated data collection. It is a way to rapidly , efficiently and accurately gather information and transmit it to a computer . It is a series of black bars with intervening white spaces which are used to represent letters and/or numerals . These lab labels are able to handle extreme conditions such as cryogenic storage or rigorous chemicals, stains and solvents. It has a firm adhesive hold up, so that printed information which conveys critical product, patient or testing information is not lost .

Fully automated 5 and 7 part hematology cell counters: Mindray BC – 6800, XN – 550 sysmex .

Automated cell counters sample the blood and quantify, classify and describe cell populations using both electrical and optical techniques. These analyzers also give Malarial parasite as well as immature cells flagging thereby avoiding diagnosis missed by manual methods.

The ESR or Erythrocyte sedimentation rate is a simple screening and prognostic test that indirectly measures the presence of inflammation in the body. Automated ESR enables fast results with accuracy & precision ; results are transmitted through software interface .

Automated analyzer ACL ELITE – 10000 for Prothrombin time
(PT&INR), APTT, Thrombin time , Protein C , Protein S & Antithrombin III.

Coagulation tests measure your blood’s ability to clot and the amount of time it takes to do so, (Conditions that cause coagulation problems include liver disease, thrombophilia (excessive clotting), and hemophilia (inability to clot normally).

HPLC method is a gold standard method for thalassaemia testing .

VARIANT II-BioRad, an automated HPLC machine is an appropriate approach for the screening and presumptive identification of carriers of classical beta-thalassaemia prior to DNA studies for definitive diagnosis.

HBA1C ESTIMATION for diabetes control :

HPLC Method by Bio Rad D-10

Hemoglobin (Hb) A1c is a tool widely used to monitor long-term glycemic control in diabetic patients and HPLC is the gold standard method .

Proven quality with comprehensive management of urinalysis work area, which is highly convenient, user friendly, fast and with efficient processing. Automation in urine testing enables accuracy and avoids many manual steps thereby reducing possibility of errors while urine testing . It also provides documentary evidence & record of test run . Also is supported by a barcode reader and a sediment terminal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Hematology tests include tests on the blood, blood proteins and blood-producing organs. These tests can evaluate a variety of blood conditions including infection, anemia, inflammation, hemophilia, blood-clotting disorders, leukemia and the body's response to chemotherapy treatments.
If your primary care physician has recommended that you see a hematologist, it may be because you are at risk for a condition involving your red or white blood cells, platelets, blood vessels, bone marrow, lymph nodes, or spleen. Some of these conditions are: hemophilia, a disease that prevents your blood from clotting.
Haematological diseases are pathological conditions primarily affecting the blood or blood-producing organs. This group of disorders includes, but is not limited to, various types of anaemia, blood cancers and haemorrhagic conditions.
One of the most common hematology tests is the complete blood count, or CBC. This test is often conducted during a routine exam and can detect anemia, clotting problems, blood cancers, immune system disorders and infections.
The CBC can evaluate your overall health and detect a variety of diseases and conditions, such as infections, anemia and leukemia.

Some examples include:
  • Anemia of various etiologies.
  • Autoimmune disorders.
  • Bone marrow disorders.
  • Dehydration.
  • Infections.
  • Inflammation.
  • Hemoglobin abnormalities.
  • Leukemia.
The complete blood count (CBC) is a group of tests that evaluate the cells that circulate in blood, including red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), and platelets (PLTs). The CBC can evaluate your overall health and detect a variety of diseases and conditions, such as infections, anemia and leukemia.
A clinical pathologist may be in charge of the blood bank in a hospital. This includes collecting and processing blood and blood products. Other duties may include looking at the causes of transfusion reactions and checking tissue compatibility for transplants.
Clinical pathology supports the diagnosis of disease using laboratory testing of blood and other bodily fluids, tissues, and microscopic evaluation of individual cells.
For example, a pathologist may examine tissue removed during surgery in order to determine if cancer cells are present. Anatomical pathologists play a critical role in determining an accurate diagnosis. A clinical pathologist is involved in conducting and overseeing laboratory tests on body fluids, such as blood.
